APPLICATION REVIEW BOARD MEMBER:
What will be my role as a Reviewer?
Graduate fellows are responsible for providing constructive and helpful comments, actively participating during weekly review meetings, and meeting deadlines established by the executive board and review chairs.
What is the time commitment?
Reviewers should expect to commit approximately 5 hours once a week for six weeks.
Is training required?
Review Chairs will be required to participate in a training session, via Zoom, prior to reviewing applications. Review Chairs will coordinate the application review process and ensure all reviewers follow application review protocol as intended.
What is an economics-adjacent field?
The Research in Color Foundation defines an economics-adjacent field as “public policy, political economy, applied economics, finance, and quantitative methods in political science.”
Is there anything else I need to know?
No travel is required. All communication will be done via email and meetings will be held on Zoom. All reviewers will receive a generous stipend of $1,000 USD to help support their academic research. This position is open to any PhD student who can complete and submit a form W-9: Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification of the United States Internal Revenue Service.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be current PhD students
General experience with reviewing applications
Ability to commit around 5 hours once a week between October 30th and December 11th (6 weeks)
Capacity to work remotely
Strong interest in supporting underrepresented scholars in economics and related fields
Background in economics or economics-adjacent fields (public policy, political economy, other quantitative social sciences)
Highly organized and self-motivated
Ability to communicate clearly, cogently, and respectfully
Skilled problem solver and trouble shooter who knows when and how to ask for help
Familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
Applicants must believe in the mission of Research in Color
Experience advocating for diversity and inclusion is a plus
